The original name of the area was 'Maghellan', which came from the Gallic word 'magh', which means fertile soil, and 'Ellan', from the monk St Fillan, which was closely related to the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had already been making whisky on their Speyside farms for several centuries. This whisky was distilled in April 1991 and laid to rest in single cask #9714 for 18 years before being bottled in 2010. One of 288 bottles. 70cl/55.3%
