The original name of the area was 'Maghellan', which came from the Gallic word 'magh', which means fertile soil, and 'Ellan', from the monk St Fillan, which was closely related to the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had already been making whisky on their Speyside farms for several centuries. This whisky was distilled on 12th march 2002 and matured in a 1st fill ex-Bourbon barrel for 18 years before being bottled by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society. One of 197 bottles. 70cl/56.4%
