SINCE 2007

Since the end of the 18th century, Château Trontanoy has been considered the Premier Cru of Pomerol, and since 1953, Jean-Pierre Moueix, the winemaker of the most famous château on the right bank of Bordeaux, has been producing the wine.
The 7 hectares or so of west-facing vineyards are planted on "crasse de fer," a mixture of iron-rich clay and gravel soils. These soils become very hard like concrete after rain, hence the name "trotanoy", The iron content gives the vines strength, depth, and complexity, and combined with the concentration of the old vines, produces excellent wines that can be aged for a long time.
