The original name of the area was 'Maghellan', which came from the Gallic word 'magh', which means fertile soil, and 'Ellan', from the monk St Fillan, which was closely related to the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had already been making whisky on their Speyside farms for several centuries. A wonderful addition to any Macallan collection, the Royal Marriage bottling was released in 1981 to celebrate the wedding of The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. 70cl/43%
