The original name of the area was 'Maghellan', which came from the Gallic word 'magh', which means fertile soil, and 'Ellan', from the monk St Fillan, which was closely related to the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had already been making whisky on their Speyside farms for several centuries. Genesis is a special and highly limited release from the recently revamped Macallan distillery. Released in August 2018, the special edition bottling commemorates the unveiling of the brand new Macallan distillery just two months prior. 70cl/45,5%
