In 1871, it came under the control of his son William Brown who completely restructured it as Linkwood-Glenlivet Distillery Co Ltd. Only 2% of the production is sold directly in the form of single malt whisky All the rest is either sold to traders or for the vast majority used for the manufacture of blends.
