CMONVIN > Whisky Macallan 12 Year Bicentenary of French Revolution 5,900€VAT EXCL Contact Customer Service The Macallan distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and teacher. The original name of the area was 'Maghellan', which came from the Gallic word 'magh', which means fertile soil, and 'Ellan', from the monk St Fillan, which was closely related to the church that stood in the grounds of The Macallan Estate until 1400. Farmers had already been making whisky on their Speyside farms for several centuries. This is a very rare bottling from 1989, produced to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the French Revolution.
