The special ageing of its cognacs, called “Early Landed” dates back to the 19th century. At that time the cognac houses themselves did not do the bottling of the cognac. Hine shipped barrels of vintage cognac from Grande Champagne to Bristol, England in order to benefit from the unique conditions of ageing ovet there. The bottles of cognac were then sent back. This ancient practice was reinitialized in the early 1970s. Since 1962, Hine Cognac has been the official supplier to Queen Elizabeth II of England. À l'époque la mise en bouteille n'était jamais réalisée par les maisons de Cognac. Hine expédiait alors des barriques de cognacs millésimés de Grande Champagne à Bristol en Angleterre afin de bénéficier là-bas de conditions uniques de vieillissement. Les bouteilles de cognac sont alors réexpédiées sur le continent. Cette pratique ancienne a été réactivée au début des années 1970.
