He built a residence on the estate and his successors continued to manage his vineyard with great care until the French Revolution of 1789 under the name of "Vignes du Pape Clément". The precocity of the harvest in 1305 at that time made the singularity of the Château and this is how this vineyard was one of the first of France where it was decided to align the vines in règes to facilitate the ploughing of the soil.
